February Reads and a Life Update

February was a good month for our reading goals, but not for the blogging ones. Hopefully March will be good for both.

Katie:

  • The Five Love Languages Singles Edition by Gary Chapman
  • Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse
  • A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
  • Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
  • Marbles by Ellen Forney
  • Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham
  • Witness by Karen Hesse
From this month's books, I recommend: Out of the Dust and Witness for those who like novels in free verse, Talking as Fast as I Can for fans of Lauren Graham and/or Gilmore Girls, and The Five Love Languages for everyone. I'm currently reading The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart.

Sarah:

  • Each Little Bird That Sings by Deborah Wiles
  • Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
  • Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes by Rick Riordan
  • The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling
  • Wagons West by John R. Erickson
  • Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham
  • Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can't Avoid by Lemony Snicket
From the books that I read this month, I recommend Speak for those looking for a really thought-provoking YA novel and Talking as Fast as I Can for any Lauren Graham fans. I'm currently reading File Under: 13 Suspicious Incidents by Lemony Snicket.

Life Update:

As some of you may know, our grandfather passed away New Year's Day. We miss him very much, but his departure from this earth was a peaceful one and we know he's now in his heavenly home.

After the funeral, there wasn't much time to transition smoothly back into our routines. We had to immediately start playing catch-up, which was part of the reason for our difficulties in making time to blog. Of course, our schedules also continue to become increasingly busy.

Sarah: I'm at the dance studio six to seven days a week now, and I'm busy with work and my high school course load. I'm also trying to look into colleges and figure out post-graduation plans.

Katie: I have transferred from community college to the local four-year university, and I'm also working 30 hours a week.

We are going to try to get back into the rhythm of posting every week on Sunday, but at this point, we're accepting the fact that sometimes we won't get it done. Thanks so much for sticking with us in spite of that. We are so grateful to have people who read and enjoy this blog, because we really enjoy writing it. :)
